After saving an abused pit bull, a troubled Brighton Beach teenanger who makes ends meet through crime while raising his little brother, must protect the dog from its nefarious owners.
Set in the striking neighborhoods of Brighton Beach, with the Atlantic on one side and the Q train on the other, the story follows Anton, a troubled teenager from a broken home who makes ends meet by dealing drugs for a local crime boss, Reuben. While surviving in a high-stress environment, he is also forced to take care of his little brother, Nicky, as their mother rarely comes around… One night, the two brothers come across a wounded pit bull named Brooklyn and take her in. They quickly bond with the dog and she becomes a new member of their family. Unfortunately, their happiness is short-lived as Brooklyn’s previous owners, local thugs who run an underground dog-fighting ring, come around looking for her. They take Brooklyn away with plans to keep abusing her as a “bait dog.” The loss of a new friend devastates the two brothers. Now faced with fear and uncertainty, Anton must gather the strength, wit and courage to save Brooklyn and bring her back home.
