Circa 2035, the world is in the grip of a new virus that deprives humanity of emotions. The only cure is a non-renewable natural substance whose amount is extremely limited.
The majority of the humankind has been infected and indefinitively quarantined, except a handful of powerful people including the rulers and the very wealthy who can afford the prohibitively expensive antiserum, as well as a few lucky ones. Jules Berger, the son of a couple of special agents, is planning to pay a surreptitious visit to a very important person in exile. He has to pass the Emotion Verification Test administered by the provisional government’s Department of Health in order to gain access to the capital’s public spaces, while the authorities seem omniscient. The outlook for a return to a normal world is bleak, and the eternal rule Jules holds dear is the only solution that exists.
