Portrait of a Young Mother

Portrait of a Young Mother follows a young woman as she struggles with losing her sense of self and independence during her pregnancy. Through the confined plastic world of a KOA style campground and her partner’s overbearing desire to take care of her every need, she becomes overwhelmed and decides to slip away in the middle of the night on her bike. With a baby bump tucked behind the handlebars and the wind in her hair, she traverses the scenic Colorado landscape – pedaling over dirt roads and past alpine peaks. She reaches the top of a hill, overlooking a winding river and lush forest below. Behind her, quietly, her bike is stolen – leaving her stranded in the middle of nowhere. Exhausted and thirsty, she is forced to confront her own freedom as she winds back down the hill.
